10 Incredibly-Short Turnarounds Between UFC Fights
8. Lavar Johnson (21 Days)
Much like previous-entry Greg Hardy, former UFC Heavyweight Lavar Johnson has a checkered history of domestic abuse and other crimes, so it's thusly difficult to afford him any sort of legitimate praise. However, he did accept two UFC fights three weeks apart from one another, and that is a commendable feat for anybody.
'Big' Johnson actually has a shorter layoff between two fights; he fought two fights in 15 days for WEC and Lords of the Cage, respectively. However, since neither of those fights took place in the UFC, that insane turnaround is ineligible for this list. Still, a 21-day gap between fights is nothing to sneeze at.
The first fight took place at a UFC on FOX event on 5 May 2012 and saw Johnson TKO Pat Barry in Round 1. Just 21 days later, Johnson would replace an injured Mark Hunt on 10 days' notice to take on the 7'0" Stefan Struve at UFC 146. The all-too-short break between fights proved too costly for Johnson, who fell to an armbar by Struve in just over a minute.
Given the way this fight went, it's clear that Johnson did not have enough time to prepare for his fight for Struve. And thanks to his 2015 charge for corporal injury on a spouse, which carried with it a five-year prison sentence, we will likely never find out if he stood a chance in the first place.
