10 Incredibly-Short Turnarounds Between UFC Fights
9. Greg Hardy (22 Days)
Look, Greg Hardy's past criminal behavior is indefensible, but credit is most certainly due here - this was an insanely-quick turnaround between fights.
The former NFL defensive end began an unexpected foray into the world of mixed martial arts in 2016, and has a 6-2 (1) record as of this writing. That one no contest happened at a UFC on ESPN event in Boston on 18 October 2019, when Hardy originally earned a unanimous decision victory over Ben Sosoli, but controversially utilized an inhaler in-between the second and third rounds. Both Hardy and his camp claimed that they didn't know that they were against the rules, but the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission didn't buy it and stripped him of his win.
Looking to quickly redeem himself, Hardy subbed in for an injured Junior Dos Santos to fight Alexander Volkov just a day over three weeks later at a UFC Fight Night in Russia, Volkov's home turf. Unfortunately for Hardy, Volkov would outperform him in every round to earn a unanimous 30-27 win. But hey, that will happen when you're still relatively-green in MMA and when you accept two fights on opposite sides of the world less than a month apart from one another.
So, again, while nobody can reasonably defend Hardy's history of domestic violence, it's pretty admirable that he was able to take a second fight so soon after the one before it.
