10 Indisputable Reasons Why Vince McMahon Is Not A Genius

8. He's Inconsistent And Pays No Attention To Details

Do you remember being invested in the mystery of the Raw General Manager storyline? At the beginning of the angle, WWE was dropping a few hints about who he/she was. There was a clue about how they €œalways hated€ Bret Hart, and they were also showing favoritism for the villainous Nexus. Fans speculated on who it could possibly be. Steve Austin, Michael Cole, Batista and Triple H were all candidates at times. Each one would have been an intriguing choice, or with the right story, many others would have worked as well. Well, in the end it didn€™t matter, because Vince chose Hornswoggle.

Let€™s go through a few more examples of forgotten storylines to stress the point. Why did The Nexus attack The Undertaker at Bragging Rights 2010 and bury him alive? Why did Undertaker not get his revenge when he came back? Then, why did Taker not care when The Shield put him out of action? How did Vince McMahon get his job back after being fired from the board of directors? Is anything substantial ever going to come out of Shawn Michaels screwing Daniel Bryan out of the title?

How about the way that WWE presents its own storylines? It€™s maddeningly inconsistent. In backstage segments, sometimes the wrestlers can see the cameraman right in front of them. They know they€™re on TV. Other times, they don€™t. The only reason it changes so rapidly is that Vince and the writing team take the easiest route to tell their stories every time. Don€™t even try to figure out Total Divas and which stories on that show (Nikki making fun of Natalya€™s ugly painting) actually cross over into Raw and SmackDown storylines, and which don€™t (Fandango and Summer Rae never dated in real life).

No other TV show has ever survived with such small and gigantic laps in logic, and yet WWE somehow stumbles on. While there are many reasons for fans leaving the sport since The Attitude Era, you€™d have to think that some gave up simply out of frustration.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
