A few months after WrestleMania XII, WWE presented SummerSlam '96 live from Cleveland's Gund Arena. The card was headlined by a WWF Championship between Shawn Michaels and Vader and The Undertaker vs. Mankind in a Boiler Room Brawl. The latter match was the first of its kind, something that Mankind and Undertaker would do again when they introduced the Buried Alive Match just two months later.

While the Boiler Room Brawl may not have held up too well over time, this match was one of WWE's highlights of 1996. It was the first time that fans saw The Undertaker in such a real physical fight and it also showcased Foley taking some pretty brutal bumps as well.

Of course, the climax came when Paul Bearer turned on The Undertaker and slammed him in the head with the urn, joining forces with Mankind.

The match would be surpassed, in terms of the physicality involved, many times over the years by many superstars including The Undertaker and Mankind themselves at King Of The Ring '98, but for a little while there in 1996, this was seen as a brutal, groundbreaking match.
