6. Shockmaster Sabotage

The Shockmaster debut is still regarded as one of the most unintentionally hilarious debuts of all time. He was the mystery partner for an upcoming 8 man tag match, who was to be revealed on live television. As his name was announced, he burst through a wall of sheetrock and he fell flat on his face. His glittering stormtrooper helmet fell off and he clumsily tried to recover and save what was left of his dignity.

It was too late, and ruined any legitimacy he may have had. The promo was a bust and his character was subsequently turned into a comedic one, as opposed to the serious monster he was set out to be. Was this an unfortunate mishap, or straight up sabotage?

David Crockett, an executive for WCW at the time, was apparently not very fond of the idea of The Shockmaster, so it is rumored that he wanted to sabotage his debut. You really can't blame him though, because even if he hadn't fallen over and embarrassed himself, fans still would not have taken that character seriously.

The practice run before the show had gone well, but to ensure that things would not go according to plan, Crockett had nailed a board at the base of the wall without telling anybody. When The Shockmaster was set to burst through on air, he tripped over the board, and sealed his fate as a laughing stock for years to come.
