10 Insane Inspirations Behind Famous Wrestling Gimmicks

6. Al Snow Was Inspired By Abnormal Psychology & A Mummer's Days Parade

Allen "Al" Ray Sarven has had a number of interesting gimmicks over the years - including, bizarrely, that of a ninja assassin called "Shinobi" - but he is certainly most well-known for his portrayal of the Al Snow character. Al Snow was a mentally unstable character who began life in ECW (at least in name) and came to prominence in WWE. He carried around and talked to a mannequin's head (simply called "Head") and had gone kayfabe crazy due to his constant booking as a jobber. He also stated that to move up in the wrestling world, he had to "get a little head". The idea for the character came from Sarven reading books about abnormal psychology at around the same time that he found a mannequin's head - an abandoned parade prop - whilst attending a Mummer's Day parade near an ECW arena he was working at.
