10 INSANE WWE International Incidents

4. Maxx Payne's Hushed Scandal

Maxx Payne—best remembered as a failed WWF New Generation rock star gimmick, and most fondly remembered as one quarter of one of the most brutal mainstream US tag team contests of the 20th century—threatened to release a warts-and-all documentary shedding light on the shocking backstage behaviour of the WWF roster.

Only the trailer exists; the WWF threw the hammer down, naturally, on footage that per Payne contained scenes of substance abuse and solicitation.

That trailer is comprised of footage assembled from a 1995 tour of Europe, home of more than your average on-tour decadence. The blurry, black and white glimpses are tantalising. We see Yokozuna rub his gums with his fingers with no floss in sight. More luridly still, Kevin ‘Diesel’ Nash throws a bottle of unspecified pills into an entire box full of ‘em, cackling like a maniac. Waylon Mercy is so blitzed that he has no idea which country he is in. We’ve heard the tales of 1990s excess. Here, we very nearly see them.

We are certain that several insane international incidents transpire in the film—otherwise, we’d have seen it by now.
