10 Insider Pro Wrestling Terms That WWE Fans Get Wrong All The Time

2. Squash

"Squash" is closely related to "jobber", because people are impatient more often than not, and when they don't get exactly what they want, exactly when they want it, they lash out. Wrestler A defeats Wrestler B. If fans like Wrestler A, they won't say much of anything. If fans dislike Wrestler A, and especially if they also like Wrestler B, it turns into "Wrestler A squashed Wrestler B". Someone needs to explain that one. Like with "jobber", it really doesn't matter if matches are competitive, or how long they are... if some fans don't like the outcome, they'll say someone got "squashed". Continuing the theme from earlier, Cena is involved in a lot of "squashes", if you believe this particular group of fans. When he beats someone, they apparently get sent tumbling down the card, unable to recover. Now, to be fair, there have been a couple people who have lost to Cena, only to never quite be the same again. Damien Sandow is a key example of that, even though his match with Cena was perhaps the best match of his entire career. Sandow pushed Cena to the limits there, surprising everyone. Even though he lost, people were expecting big things for Sandow's career, but the rug was pulled out from underneath him almost immediately, for reasons nobody can quite figure out. The Wyatts were not "squashed" by John Cena. When Bray was feuding with Cena around WrestleMania time, he wasn't sent tumbling down the card. He received just as much television time, if not more, and stayed in the same part of the show as he did before. Bray, Luke Harper, and Erick Rowan weren't "squashed", and they weren't what is described in the next term, either...
