10 Kayfabe Wrestling Moments That Became Real

1. Bret Hart Says Vince McMahon Is "Screwing" Him... Before Getting Screwed

Bret Hart was never known as much of a promo man, but his scathing tirade on the 17 March 1997 Raw was world class. After working a short Steel Cage bout with Sycho Sid (that included interference from The Undertaker and Steve Austin), Bret called Vince McMahon into the ring for a roasting.

A fired up 'Hitman' said that Vince and the WWF were trying to screw him, and he was sick and tired of dealing with it. Approx eight months later, McMahon's outfit would conspire to screw Bret for real by fixing his match with Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series 1997.

They called that the 'Montreal Screwjob' - not sure if you've heard of it.

Seriously though, it's fascinating to look back on Hart's rant knowing what would happen next. Any post-Montreal promo likely would've mentioned the same sort of scheming from Vince and cohorts. Who could've known that this fictional moment would become so real?
