10 Killer PPV Openers Nobody Talks About

7. Chris Jericho vs. Lance Storm - One Night Stand 2005

WWE's decision to air a tribute show for Extreme Championship Wrestling in 2005 may have led to Vince McMahon running the brand into the ground as a hollow shell of its former self, but for one evening in '05, fans were taken on a trip back to a time when the company could do no wrong. Opening with a pure wrestling match between real-life friends Lance Storm and Chris Jericho was a stroke of genius, and exactly what the fans wanted to see. To make things even more old-school, Jericho was announced as 'Lionheart', instead of 'Y2J', and the live crowd lapped it up. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x207nqc_ecw-one-night-stand-chris-jericho-vs-lance-storm_sport At the time, this was rumoured to be the last match Lance Storm would have, which didn't prove to be the case. Nonetheless, if it had been, it would've been a hell of a way to go out - starting brightly, the bout only got better as it progressed, and it obvious that these pals were having a ball reliving past glories.
