10 Lamest WWE Title Changes

4. Daniel Bryan To Sheamus (WrestleMania XXVIII)

Daniel Bryan won the World Heavyweight Championship in a very lame fashion. It’s only fitting that he lost it in an even lamer way.

With him facing Royal Rumble winner Sheamus in the opening match of WrestleMania XXVIII (always a good sign), WWE decided that now would be a great time to have a record broken. To start the match, Bryan got a good luck kiss from then-valet AJ Lee, but turned around to meet a Brogue Kick. With one move, Sheamus won the World Heavyweight Championship in a record 18 Seconds. It is a phrase that has followed both men forever.

Now, with hindsight, we can see how 18 Seconds ultimately benefited Bryan (Sheamus, not so much). However, just looking at this title change in a vacuum, it’s incredibly lame. If they wanted Sheamus to break a record and win the title quickly, why would they protect Bryan by having him kiss AJ and lose via distraction. That doesn’t make Sheamus look like a powerful conqueror, but just someone who got lucky (much like the first time he won a world title, but we’ll get to that).

Both men recovered from this, but it’s a farce no one will forget.
