This past week on SmackDown, the six tandems involved in this weekend’s tag team turmoil match squared off in 12-man action. Surprisingly, it was Viktor of the Ascension who sealed the victory for his side, knocking off Rhyno to record his first televised pinfall in 361 days.

That means that for the first time in a long time, the Ascension actually have some momentum behind them, and the company should look to capitalise on that by having them rack up some eliminations in the early goings this Sunday.

Of course, they don’t have to win the match outright, but therein lies the beauty of a tag team turmoil stipulation. A booker can give the rub to multiple teams in a single match by having one duo score some back-to-back pinfalls before falling at the final hurdle.

Admittedly it would be cool to see American Alpha enter the match first and come out on the other side with the titles in tow, but that would essentially bury the entire tag team division. It would be far more beneficial to have the Ascension build on Tuesday’s win and look like actual contenders for a change by scoring some eliminations along the way.
