10 Last-Minute WWE Extreme Rules 2017 Rumours You Need To Know
8. "The Beast" Is Back
At WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar handed Bill Goldberg his first clean one-on-one loss ever, winning an exciting five-minute match to capture the Universal Championship. The next evening on Raw, Lesnar called out Roman Reigns, but got Braun Strowman instead. The two ended up not coming to blows, though, and that's the last time Lesnar has been on WWE TV.
Despite his absence, Lesnar's next bout has been announced - he'll be taking on the winner of Sunday's five-way match at Great Balls of Fire on July 9. That means that Lesnar will have to appear on TV before then in order to build up a program with whomever emerges victorious from the match.
Perhaps Lesnar could surprise the world by popping up at Extreme Rules, attacking the winner of the bout just to remind everyone that he's the Universal Champion and that beating him is very different from earning the right to face him. While that might make sense from a booking perspective, Lesnar doesn't show up at PPVs where he's not booked to wrestle, and he rarely makes unadvertised appearances. Whoever wins the main event at Extreme Rules will get to enjoy his victory.
