When Scotty 2 Hotty was sidelined with an ankle injury, Grand Master was paired with Steve Blackman, but when that failed to take off, he was released from WWE soon after for illegally conveying drugs across the CanadaUnited States border. He would spend the next 10 years splitting his time between TNA, Japan and the independent scene. He, unfortunately it must be said, returned to WWE television in 2011 as a heel in a segment between Michael Cole and his father, Jerry 'The King' Lawler ahead of their famous match at WrestleMania. Sexy would side with Cole saying that he felt that Jerry never cared for him and that he was ashamed to be his son.
