10 Least Authoritative WWE Authority Figures

Nobody's ever going to compare to Mr. McMahon...

For WWE, it's been necessity to have a regular on-screen authority figure since the late 1990's. Back then, Vince McMahon brought his evil genius character from behind the scenes - and on to television - in a move that would revolutionise the wrestling business. He garnered unrivalled success with 'Mr. McMahon', in what became known as the 'Attitude Era'. McMahon had just screwed Bret Hart out of WWE and would embark on a rivalry with Stone Cold Steve Austin; in a long-standing feud that would change the perception of professional wrestling. McMahon's days of being an on-screen regular are now long gone, but ever since (and even just before), authority figures have become a 'must-have' on WWE television. But lets face it, nobody has - or is ever going to - achieve the same reaction to what McMahon got in his heyday. Despite that being common knowledge, WWE have persisted with on-screen authority figures presiding over the company as a whole, or over Raw and SmackDown as separate entities. It seems to be a tried and tested formula, especially given the tendency of the company to appoint heel authority figures to make it that extra little bit difficult for babyfaces to gain superiority. That though doesn't mean the formula always works. The Authority are currently doing a half-decent job as the main antagonists on WWE television, but there's been a number of people before them who have failed to exude the kind of jurisdiction that McMahon used to, or the type his daughter Stephanie has now. There's even a prime example mulling around WWE today, so take a look at him and nine other authority figures of the past who just haven't fit the bill.
