10 Least Effective WWE World Champions Ever

One year after announcing his retirement live on RAW, 'The Rated-R Superstar' Edge found himself inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The Ultimate Opportunist certainly had a Hall of Fame worthy career, but at the same time his induction came across as a little rushed, a little forced. His record speaks for itself however, with four WWE Championships and a record seven World Heavyweight Championships on his resumé, not to mention countless tag title reigns.

The only problem is that none of those reigns were particularly impressive. Edge's four WWE Championship reigns were spread over just 139 days, meaning he held that title for a shorter amount of time than than one-time champs such as The Miz, JBL, and The Ultimate Warrior. He fared a little better with the World Heavyweight Championship, but his career was lacking that career-defining reign.

Throughout his reigns, Edge relied on interference to retain his title. The Ultimate Opportunist gimmick more than likely lends itself to such things, but it certainly doesn't make for a champion capable of getting anything done on his own.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
