10 Least Effective WWE World Champions Ever

Sheamus will go down in history as one of the best performers that the WWE Universe never truly cared about. His 2012 run as World Heavyweight Champion started in deflating fashion with an 18-second win over Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania XXVIII, but a series of strong defences saw the Celtic Warrior evolve into a more than credible champion.

His 2015 run started in similarly underwhelming circumstances, but the major difference was that 2015 Sheamus was one of the least over stars on the entire roster. The Irishman was the holder of the Money in the Bank briefcase at the time, but had fallen prey to WWE's old tendency to book MitB winners as jokes in order to increase the surprise factor of the eventual cash-in.

Sheamus cashed in his briefcase in order to get the case off him, and thus embarked on an utterly pointless 22 day run. He had been reduced to a bumbling fool by this point, and his complete ineffectualness was only compounded by the three ineffectual men around him in the League of Nations.

The League completed their descent into total toothlessness by beating down Roman Reigns at the 2016 Royal Rumble, but still leaving him a door through which to re-enter the match. Good work guys, good work.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
