10 Least Likely WWE Ladder Match Competitors Ever

6. Goldberg

When you think of Goldberg, you invariably think of his incredible (but inflated) winning streak comprised of short but explosive squash matches. That's how Da Man got over so much; by absolutely annihilating his foes in record time with his deadly Spear/Jackhammer combo.

The Power Plant graduate certainly wasn't built for long, complex matches, much less stipulation bouts, which can take many, many years of practice to get right. Still, that didn't stop the WCW bookers from putting him in a ladder match at Souled Out 1999.

He was in there with good company, though, as the man he was opposing was Scott Hall, who famously had two trailblazing ladder matches with Shawn Michaels in 1994 and '95. The match wasn't for a title, with the man who ascended the rungs getting possession of a stun gun to use on their opponents (playing off the finish to Kevin Nash's streak-ending victory at Starrcade 1998).

This was by no means a classic contest but it was good enough for government work, as they say. They got through it, although Goldberg was clearly preoccupied with selling his leg and couldn't really concentrate on much else.

Later in the year, on the November 8th episode of Nitro, Goldberg and Hall would compete in another ladder match, a fatal four way also featuring Bret Hart and Sid (speaking of unlikely ladder march participants). In keeping with the era, it was a deeply disappointing five-minute affair bereft of any real action and full of outside interference.

Ah, WCW...
