10 Least Over Wrestlers To Ever Headline WWE WrestleMania
8. Bam Bam Bigelow (WrestleMania XI)
'First time, last time, only time' was probably for the best here as Bigelow's bout with NFL legend Lawrence Taylor was a gamble that simply did not pay off.
Taylor had all the tools to be a great professional wrestler athletically. Thanks to his years spent in the punishing position of linebacker for the New York Giants, 'L.T.' was a fast, durable, explosively strong athlete well over 200lbs. Essentially he was tailor made for the ring. Bigelow, meanwhile, was a menacing big man who'd gotten over as a monster gaijin in Japan and was an effective midcard menace in the WWF.
Of course, his being a midcarder automatically spelled trouble for The Show of Shows. Between the lack of top star credibility in Bigelow's booking and the mainstream media backlash to Taylor entering sports-entertainment, the show drew poorly and garnered negative attention. While the match itself was passable, it lacked heat and Bigelow doing the job provided nothing of note for the promotion moving forward.
The big man's pre match promo did no favours in getting him over as a heel either. Blasting Taylor and other celebs for moseying into the wrestling world willy-nilly, Bigelow lacked the charisma to up the crowd heat and instead seemed like an understandably miffed working man. As much as everyone loves his classic ECW feud with Taz, Bigelow simply didn't belong on this level of stage with such an out of place dance partner.
