10 Least Successful WWE Tag Teams Of The Last 20 Years
10. Funaki & Scotty 2 Hotty
Sho Funaki began wrestling in the WWF in May 1998 as part of Kaientai (alongside Dick Togo and Mens Teioh) and feuding with his longtime Japanese counterpart Taka Michinoku. Scotty 2 Hotty (Scott Taylor) began his career as a WWF jobber as a young man losing to the likes of Berzerker, Skinner and Rick Martel. Finally Scotty was offered a contract by the WWF in 1997 and he competed in the 8-man light heavyweight tournament. Ironically, it was these two men's future tag partners (Taka Michinoku and Brian Christopher) who competed in the finals. By 2005, Scotty 2 Hotty had over 650 WWF matches under his belt and Funaki had over 500 WWF matches. Both of their partners had disappeared earlier (neither "Grandmaster Sexay" nor Taka were still in WWE by 2002) and so it just a matter of time before these two utility players would naturally team up. Sadly, what they brought in experience, they lacked in execution. The duo ended up with a stunning 0-15 tag team record between Smackdown and Velocity. Funaki & Scotty 2 Hotty ended up putting over Charlie Haas & Hardcore Holly, the Mexicools, Paul Burchil & William Regal, The Dicks, The Gymini, Nunzio & Vito, The Pitbulls (Jamie Noble & Kid Kash), Idol Stevens & KC James and Dave Taylor & William Regal.
