10 Most Legendary Wrestling Commentators Of All Time

7. Joey Styles

An exception to the rule about needing color commentators is Joey Styles, formerly of Extreme Championship Wrestling and now a columnist for WWE.com. His tenure in the WWE booth was crippled by backstage foolishness from Vince McMahon, which is the only slight bruise on an otherwise stellar announcing career. In ECW, Styles proved that you didn't need a color commentator, so long as you were as good at your job as he was. Though he would occasionally be joined by guest commentators such as Taz and Shane Douglas, Styles was right at home in the booth, often feeling like the modern day equivalent of Gordon Solie. Styles' direct, no-nonsense method added some fantastic dimension to the matches at hand. He called a 60-minute triple threat match between Shane Douglas, Sabu and Terry Funk like it was just another day at the office, despite how truly daunting a prospect that is. Styles was fearless in the face of naysayers, and was even able to let a lot of his frustrations with the WWE product loose during a heated worked shoot on Raw that would have made CM Punk proud. Joey Styles has a unique place among wrestling announcers, being the first and only man to call a live pay-per-view event solo. With trademark shrieks of "Oh My God!" behind him, Styles certainly has had a Hall of Fame-worthy career.
