Lex Luger spent just two years competing in the World Wrestling Federation, and in that time, was known as both a Narcissist and an All-American hero. It was an odd change for Lex to go from the self-centered, brash, and arrogant heel to the pro-USA, kid-friendly hero. Apparently, Vince McMahon saw Lex as the possible successor to Hulk Hogan and his legacy, but it was not to be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_v-vSfCAF0Y After turning face, Luger was quickly inserted into the main event scene and WWF title picture. He faced Yokozuna for the championship at SummerSlam 93 and actually defeated the champ. Regrettably for Lex, the win came as a result of a count-out, so the title stayed with Yoko. Then, in 1994, Luger won the Royal Rumble -- kind of. Bret Hart and Lex were the final two competitors in that years Rumble, only to see both men topple over the top rope and hit the floor at the same time. A decision was made to declare both men as winners of the Rumble. Therefore, both combatants earned a title shot against Yokozuna at WrestleMania X. Mr. Perfect acted as the special referee for the contest, which would ultimately be Lexs downfall. After attacking both Jim Cornette and Mr. Fuji who were in Yokozunas corner, Luger covered the champion. Perfect was attending to both managers and did not see the pinfall attempt. In his frustration, Lex shoved Perfect, who swiftly disqualified the All-American star. It was a mistake that cost Luger in what turned out to be his final shot at the WWF Championship.
