10 Legends WWE Dumped In Awful Feuds

4. Bret Hart (Vince McMahon)

Premise: Almost 13 years on from the infamous 'Montreal Screwjob' at Survivor Series 1997, Bret Hart returned to WWE, mended fences with Shawn Michaels and then tried to do the same with Vince McMahon. Refusing, Vince booted Bret in the balls and set wheels in motion for a match between both at WrestleMania XXVI.

Why It Was Awful: Icon of the industry or not, Bret Hart shouldn't have been in a wrestling ring by 2010.

The terms of his insurance policy meant Bret couldn't bump, and that restricted what he and McMahon could do with their 'No Holds Barred' match stipulation. What was supposed to be a feel good piece of redemption booking for Hart (and a win that'd close the book on 13 years of hurt) ended up being a disaster-piece.

It was too late for this sort of thing by 2010. Bret couldn't work like the 'Hitman' of old, fans had moved on from Montreal and some in Phoenix for 'Mania ended up feeling sorry for McMahon when the entire Hart clan cheered on a one-way steel chair beating.
