10 Lesser-Known Ridiculous WCW Moments
2. Sergeant A.W.O.L. Is Born
Vince Russo loves booking shoot-style angles, and one of his more obscure ones aired on an episode of Thunder in July 2000. On the show, Lenny Lane came out and started "shooting" about how he had been undervalued after playing a bunch of different gimmicks (including the disgustingly offensive "West Hollywood Blonds" pairing with Lodi). That brought out The Wall, another star who hadn't been used to his full potential.
Somehow, it was decided that The Wall and Lenny Lane would wrestle. The winner would get to stay in WCW, while the loser would have to leave the company. The bout was a tables match, and Lane scored an upset win when he knocked Wall off the apron and through a table that he himself had set up.
So, that pretty much meant that Lane should keep wrestling for WCW and The Wall should be gone, right?
Not so. Wall was immediately taken in by The Misfits in Action, given a haircut, and renamed "Sergeant A.W.O.L." As for Lenny Lane, he never wrestled for WCW again.
