10 Live Observations From EVOLVE 61
8. EVOLVE's Tag Team Scene Is Heating Up
Given that EVOLVE has slowly dropped all vestiges of former sister organization Dragon Gate USA - including DGUSA's Open the United Gate Tag Team Titles - the company decided to create its own tag team championships. The inaugural holders of the belts were determined at January's set of shows in Orlando, and the superteam of Drew Galloway and Johnny Gargano came away victorious.
Four months later, Galloway and Gargano have split, as have top contenders Anthony Nese and Caleb Konley. Catch Point members TJP and Fred Yehi recently teamed up to take on the new champions, Drew Gulak and Tracy Williams (also of Catch Point), but EVOLVE needs some new teams, and they're busy finding them.
At EVOLVE 61, Ethan Page and Chris Dickinson teamed up to take on former Open the United Gate Champions The Bravado Brothers. The Bravado Brothers were victorious, and then called out Dan Barry of Team Tremendous. What started as a conversation ended with the Bravados laying Barry out, guaranteeing a future showdown. Given that Chikara's Devastation Corporation also appeared on this past weekend's shows, it's safe to say EVOLVE has the tag team situation under control.
