10 Live Observations From EVOLVE 61
7. EVOLVE's Fans Are Respectful
EVOLVE 61 hosted two qualifying matches for WWE's Cruiserweight Classic - Fred Yehi versus TJP and Drew Gulak versus Tracy Williams. Even though all four men are members of Catch Point, they certainly didn't take it easy on each other.
Prior to the start of Yehi versus TJP, EVOLVE ambassador Trevin Adams took to the ring to explain that the Cruiserweight Classic qualifiers were being recorded for use, either clipped or complete, on WWE's media streams. That would potentially include both the WWE Network and the company's YouTube channel. For that reason, he was kindly asking us to refrain from shouting profanity or anything inappropriate that could make EVOLVE look bad and, ultimately, limit the company's exposure through WWE.
The fans complied. The crowd was ultra-hot through both matches (and, indeed, the entire show), but through all the chants and shouts, there was nothing off-color (okay, so one guy yelled "Kick him in the d*ck!" at one point, but that's forgivable). I've been in some indy crowds where people have yelled horribly offensive things, so this was a great change of pace.
