10 Live Observations From ICW's Fear And Loathing VIII

10. Scale Of The SECC And Layout

Most children that grew up in Glasgow as wrestling fans in the 1990€™s would beg their parents to drag them along to the SECC to see the WWF when they€™d come to town once a year. I was one of those kids and my Mum dragged me to a lot of WWF shows back in the mid-90€™s and early 2000€™s.

So, with that history in mind, walking into the building to see the ICW logos and the arena selling official merchandise for the show gave the event a big time feel. There was even a titantron which owner Mark Dallas would refer to as €˜The Big Telly€™ in the show opening promo.

There were fans dressed as ICW stars, hundreds of people donned in Grado shirts, one woman who had made her own Jack Jester plush doll and a lot of other small details that made me really stop and take in what a huge phenomenon this company has become.

Walking past the venue at showtime, you€™d be mistaken for thinking a TV comedian or a popular US rock band were playing at the arena. Of course, it was actually a bunch of British wrestling talent and crew who worked from the ground up and packed the house. It gave me a goose bump type feeling seeing it before my eyes.
