4. Intercontinental Title Triple Threat With Major Implications
One of the marquee matches for this live event was Dean Ambrose defending his Intercontinental Title against AJ Styles And Baron Corbin. And this match was chock full of implications for what's to come next for each respective star.
For starters, Corbin continues to prove that he can go with the very best of them, keeping up with the two veterans throughout the match and then some. Also, considering how strong and intimidating he's being booked to look, the main event scene is very clearly in his future.
On the other side of the coin, especially considering the fact that he failed to regain the WWE title at Elimination Chamber, it seems that Styles may be kept away from the main event picture for a while to come. In addition, despite allying himself with Corbin at one point in the match to gang up on Ambrose, AJ seems to be continuing his trend of feeling intimidated by Baron Corbin, meaning a more fleshed out feud between the two may very well be in the works, possibly even with Styles acting as the gatekeeper, so to speak, to Corbin's rise to the top.
Finally, as expected, Dean Ambrose won the match to an incredibly loud ovation, looking like a true fighting champion, having hit Corbin with Dirty Deeds to seal the deal. While AJ didn't take the fall, and even though he was just as over with the crowd as Ambrose, he wasn't really booked to look like a threatening challenger. This seems to further illustrate the point that one: he may be staying in the upper midcard for a bit while Wyatt, Cena, and Orton play at the top, and two: Uncle Deano may be in for a lengthy title reign.
