10 Longest Gaps Between World Title Reigns In WWE History
5. The Rock - 10 years 6 months 7 days
Just like at WrestleMania XXVII, The Rock is here to upstage The Miz once again.
Dwayne was no stranger to world titles - he won ten of the bleedin' things - with his ninth reign coming in 2002. Rock dropped the belt at SummerSlam that year and would soon depart for Hollywood. He was in and out of WWE for a while before disappearing from the company for seven long years.
Rocky's return in 2011 set in motion a series of events that led to his match at the Royal Rumble in 2013. The Great One found himself in the show's main event, doing battle with WWE Champion, CM Punk. After the match had to be restarted following interference from The Shield, Rock finally overcame the champion to capture his first world title in over ten-and-a-half years.
Seeing The Rock hold the WWE Championship for the first time in over a decade was quite something.
Sadly, it did come at the expense of Punk, who's 43- day run with the title became something of an afterthought as WWE built to Rock vs Cena II at WrestleMania XXIV.
You can see why he left and never came back.
