MVP's lone WWE United States Championship reigns was one of the longest in the history of the title. In fact, MVP's 343 days as champion is bettered only by Dean Ambrose under the WWE banner. It was an impressive spell of dominance for the man who claimed to be 'Half Man, Half Amazing'.

MVP was embroiled in a feud with Matt Hardy for much of his reign, the two even winning tag team gold together. These distractions led to MVP's singles title defences drying up. His final title defence of 2007 saw MVP pick up a count-out loss against Rey Mysterio. The title was put on the shelf for 98 days all the way until March 2008, when it was defended on an episode of SmackDown.

Batista was the opponent on that night, and MVP was once against able to escape with his championship thanks to the referee's count. The title was only defended one more time (also against Batista), before MVP dropped it to Matt Hardy at the end of April 2008.

Melina also went 98 days without defending the WWE Divas Championship in 2009.
