10 Longest Gaps Ever Between WWE WrestleMania Matches

9. 8 Years - The Rock, Matt Borne, King Kong Bundy, Mark Henry

Two more victims of The Undertaker at WrestleMania had to wait even longer than The Big Boss Man between 'Mania appearances.

King Kong Bundy and Mark Henry both went eight years without appearing at the Showcase of the Immortals, and both of those periods ended with a defeat to the Deadman. Bundy missed WrestleManias IV through X, whereas The World's Strongest Man was absent between XIV and 22.

Two other men missed eight years of WrestleMania competition - but two more differing sets of circumstances are difficult to find. After teaming with Mick Foley in a handicap match loss to Evolution at WrestleMania XX, The Rock returned to do battle against John Cena at WrestleMania XXVIII in what was arguably the highest profile WrestleMania main event of all time.

Matt Borne also had to wait eight years before returning to the Show of Shows, although most modern WWE fans could be forgiven for not knowing that name at all. Borne came up short against Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat at the very first WrestleMania, and eight years later at WrestleMania IX Borne returned as Doink the Clown to defeat Crush - thanks in no part to a second clown and a cast.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
