10 Longest Reigning United States Champions Ever

4. MVP (343 Days)

When looking back on the WWE career of Montel Vontavious Porter, it's surprising to learn that he never became World Champion.

At times, MVP looked set to become a firm fixture in the main event scene, but he was then undermined badly by shoddy booking. By 2010, the man wanted out of WWE.

Thus far, he hasn't returned, but he's still someone many fans would associate with the United States Title. MVP only had a couple of reigns as champion, the latter lasting a relatively short 76 days.

That was a complete contrast to his first run with the belt, which was colossal.

On May 20, 2007, MVP beat Chris Benoit 2-0 in a 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match at Judgment Day. What followed was a 343 day tenure as United States Champion, one only ended on April 27, 2008 by Matt Hardy at the Backlash pay-per-view.

Such a long title reign gave MVP's character - one booked to self-aggrandise - more credibility. He's definitely someone who enhanced the title whilst he held it.
