10 Longest Reigning United States Champions Ever

2. Rick Rude (419 Days)

A vital part of the stable, Rick Rude joined the likes of Paul E. Dangerously (Paul Heyman) and Steve Austin in The Dangerous Alliance during the early-1990's in WCW.

At that point, Rude was still one of the best in-ring performers in the entire industry, and he'd become United States Champion on November 19, 1991 by defeating Sting at Clash Of The Champions XVII.

The match was a co-headliner on the event, and a wonderful show of faith in Rude by WCW management. Adding credence to the idea that those behind the scenes were behind the 'Ravishing One', Rude held the US Title for some 419 days, right up until he was forced to vacate in January, 1993.

Excellent matches against the likes of Ricky Steamboat had been highlights of his reign as champion, and it's a real shame that the lengthy run was ended due to injury.

Who knows how long Rick Rude would have went on to hold the belt for - he may even have ended higher on this list...
