No list of longevity records would quite be complete without Triple H, and given his fingers aren't so much deeply in WWE's pies as being the ones which are baking them, you wouldn't bet against him leaping further up the ranking in the near future.

Triple H, despite being lumbered with a gimmick which necessitated he wrestle in the most boring style imaginable, was nevertheless earmarked for greatness by WWE management when he crossed the WCW divide back in 1995. Despite a huge initial push, the Greenwich snob's momentum seemed to have hit the skids when he was lumbered with refuse collector Duke Droese, and humiliated in just under two minutes by The Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania XII.

Oddly, Hunter's well-documented punishment for his role in the infamous MSG 'Curtain Call' didn't necessarily curtail his career, beyond nixing a King of the Ring victory. Months after the kayfabe shattering scandal, Triple H earned his first championship in the company, defeating Marc Mero for the Intercontinental title in October 1996.

Twenty years on, having married himself into the company and personally presided over his own rise to 'legend' status, Triple H was in a position to hand himself one more WWE Championship run, purposefully miscalculating that it might just make people care about Roman Reigns - when in reality, it made 'The Game', briefly, the ultimate babyface.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
