10 Longest WWE Cruiserweight Championship Reigns Ever

7. Syxx - 125 Days

The very first match I remember seeing on WCW Monday Nitro was Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko (not a bad start). The match was interrupted by a dude called Syxx, who I knew as The 1-2-3 Kid, and who was Cruiserweight champion at the time and embroiled in a feud with Malenko.

Syxx only had one reign, but it is the seventh longest of all time at 125 days. This is a fairly decent indicator of how little WCW cared about the Cruiserweight Championship, in that his run was the only Cruiserweight title reign that the New World Order would have at their peak. As one staple of tired Heel stable angles is to have all the titles, this is something of a peculiarity.

Syxx would go on to lose the title to Chris Jericho at a house show, starting Jericho's first reign. Interestingly enough, Syxx's run is the longest during the WCW years.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
