10 Longest WWE European Championship Reigns Ever

2. Matt Hardy - 125 Days

This one genuinely surprised me.

After defeating Eddie Guerrero for his first singles title, Matt would hold the belt for a whopping 125 days, his run coming to an end at the hands of The Hurricane in August 2001.

Primarily known for tag team success at this point, 2001 was when the Hardy Boyz started dipping their toes into the singles water with fairly inconsistent success. Still, Hardy remains the second longest European Champion of all time, and the longest reigning American-born one at that.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
