10 Longest WWE Hardcore Title Reigns Ever

4. Steve Blackman - 89 Days

A bit of a jump to the top four, as Steve Blackman returns to the list with his longest reign, a huge 89 days. To put this in perspective, this is a whole month longer than the fifth longest reign. I don't know whether it says a lot about Blackman, the Hardcore division or WWE in the early 00's, but you could argue that (along with Crash Holly) Steve Blackman was the MVP of this title and its history.

Blackman had 6 reigns and held the belt for the longest cumulative time, some 172 days. In what was something of a perfect storm, Blackman's lack of personality onscreen was covered up by his ability to withstand the 24/7 attacks during his reigns. In fact, the whole 'any time, any place' existence of the Hardcore title became a little irrelevant during Blackman's reigns, as he was so dangerous in hand-to-hand combat that it took something special to defeat him.

His reign would last as good as three months before he dropped the title to Raven on December 22nd 2000. This was Blackman's fourth reign, and arguably the height of his WWE career.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
