In truth, an argument can be made for most of the lengthy appearances that feature in this list. Shane Douglas was a potential babyface star, and his tenacity and energy stood him in good stead in 1991. I.R.S wrestled a clever Rumble in '92 and was always a decently-positioned heel, and Matt Hardy was in a similar spot come 2003. The following six names on the list could come with similar descriptors.

Somewhat inexplicably, Thrasher of The Headbangers lasted a total of 28 minutes and eight seconds in the 1998 Royal Rumble. That Rumble was the second in a row won by Stone Cold Steve Austin, and maybe it was the fact that the entire match revolved around the Rattlesnake that allowed Thrasher to hang on so long. Even so, Austin is the man that eventually tosses Thrasher out.

The Headbanger actually gets a pretty decent pop when he comes out at number 15, but over the next 28 minutes he does a whole heap of nothing. Thrasher resembles a guy trying to avoid being noticed at a party, hiding behind bigger guys and occasionally lending a helping hand to others. It is as inconspicuous a Rumble performance as you are going to get.

To the surprise of nobody, Thrasher failed to eliminate anyone in those 28 minutes.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
