Before Kofi Kingston came along and found new and inventive ways of surviving in the Royal Rumble match, there was John Morrison. JoMo's antics wouldn't start just yet however, but the then-World Tag Team Champion still managed to survive 29 minutes and 23 seconds in a Royal Rumble that was jam-packed with star power.

When Morrison entered the match at number six, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker and Hardcore Holly were in the ring. By the time Morrison became the 14th man eliminated almost half an hour later, Batista, CM Punk, Umaga, Kane and others had also entered the bout. Morrison lasted all the way until the 26th entrant, Chavo Guerrero, had entered the ring.

He didn't manage to eliminate anyone however, spending most of his time being thrown over the top rope and hanging on for dear life. The athleticism of the current Lucha Underground Champion was consistently brought up by the commentary team, leading many to believe at the time that big things were around the corner for the former Johnny Nitro.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
