4. Mike Knox - 2009

As that accolade goes to Mike Knox, of all people. Knox was a couple of years removed from his Survivor Series embarrassment at the hands of D-Generation X, and had settled into a nice groove as an educated psychopath on RAW. It was as good as Knox got in truth, and probably deserved more appreciation than it did at the time.

Knox continuously attacked Rey Mysterio at the time, and he carried that over into the 2009 Rumble after entering the match at number 12. Knox went on to last 32 minutes and 42 seconds in the match, duking it out with The Undertaker, Triple H, Big Show and more. The big man is only eliminated when Big Show jumps him from behind too.

Even so, why oh why did Knox last this long? He was getting a middling push at the time, but that push wasn't going to be helped by a show of endurance. Knox didn't eliminate anyone, didn't come close to it. The ring was overflowing at one point, and at almost every turn it was Knox who seemed somewhat out of place.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
