The top three spots on this list all come from the 1996 Royal Rumble, the second in a row to be won by Shawn Michaels. The performance of 'The King' may well be the most memorable of the entire Rumble however, in that it was barely a performance at all. Lawler enters the bout at number four, and immediately gets involved, taking a slopping from Henry Godwinn in the process.

When Jake 'The Snake' Roberts enters the ring he immediately unleashes his snake, causing all competitors to scatter. Lawler isn't quite so lucky, getting caught by Roberts and receiving a snake to the mush for his troubles. At this point Jerry clearly decides that enough is enough, and proceeds to spend the next 30 minutes hiding under the ring.

In what could well have been one of the easiest pay day's of his career, Lawler waits patiently under the ring until he is discovered by Shawn Michaels. HBK then eliminates Lawler with a right hand, some 36 minutes and two seconds after The King entered the match.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
