10 Mae Young Classic Wrestlers WWE Must Sign

4. Serena Deeb

Serena Deeb is this year's Brian Kendrick.

The former WWE Tag Team Champion shone in last year's Cruiserweight Classic, not only for his crafty veteran performances in the ring, but because of his narrative. The company built Kendrick's tournament run around a compelling redemption story focused on him hitting rock bottom after his last WWE release, before finally turning his life around. It made him extremely easy to root for, and Deeb falls into the same category.

While Serena's own story hasn't been as life-or-death as Kendrick's, playing on her struggles with addiction and rebirth as a yogi was a smart move, and made her one of the tournament's more interesting participants.

She looked good in carrying the extremely green Vanessa Borne in their first round match, and also put forth a strong performance against Piper Niven at the next stage, though eventually defeated. Still, she'd be an excellent veteran presence in NXT, fulfilling the midcard gatekeeper's role that Mickie James should probably be playing on Raw at the moment, using her wealth of experience to put the next wave of young talent over.
