10 Mainstream Songs That Made Great Wrestling Entrance Themes

4. Seek And Destroy By Metallica (Sting 1999-01)

Anyone who ever had a Napstar account or has followed the rise of music on the internet will know that Metallica are incredibly protective of their work. Whilst they may be notorious for charging a hefty sum for their songs, their high octane style and frantic sound has been considered perfect for talent in numerous promotions.

For a company as dense with dollars as WCW were in the late '90s, it might come as a surprise that they would buy the rights to Metallica's timeless Seek and Destroy for Sting's entrance theme, as opposed to continuing their flirtation with decrepit rockers KISS.

The theme itself is a live recording of the song taken from Woodstock '99, with the extra crowd noise only helping the impact of the icon's entrance. The wails of James Hetfield hark back to Sting's infamous call, and the whole song adds a layer of colour and attitude to the post-WolfPac version of the Sting character.

While using the song no doubt cost WCW far more than it could ever possibly make them, it remains a hard-hitting, rabid classic of the time.

WWE actually looked into buying the rights to the song in 2011 in hopes of bringing Sting in, but ultimately had to change their mind and purchase For Whom the Bell Tolls for HHH's WrestleMania entrance instead.
