8. Mid-Card Congestion

Dean Ambrose's stint as the top babyface on SmackDown last summer hardly panned out. Right back where he started, the 'Lunatic Fringe' isn't alone and actually finds himself lodged in the mid-card glut WWE have created.

Guys like Ambrose, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Bray Wyatt, Finn Bálor, Samoa Joe, and Shinsuke Nakamura are all currently occupying the same space. All of them want to look upwards into the main event pack, but it's hard to squeeze out the mid-card door when there are so many bodies in front of it.

This has left the middle of the card feeling congested with guys WWE seemingly don't believe in as sustainable headliners. Nobody will progress by winning one match and losing another, so something has to be done to establish who has an upward trajectory and who doesn't this summer.
