"The squeaky wheel gets the grease".

That old proverb perfectly illustrates how pro wrestling works in theory, at least when it comes to the biggest stars out there. It suggests that those major names tear up creative team ideas they don't like and get to re-book their own angles to suit themselves. Sometimes this is the case, but other times it definitely isn't.

Even the biggest stars have to suffer through things they don't want to do. In WWE's world, that ancient favourite could be reworked as, "the squeaky wheel squeaks and then Vince McMahon does whatever the hell he wants to do anyway". That authoritarian approach can lead to some backstage whinging after the fact, and it can also cause some to vent via podcasts as they wonder what the hell the boss was thinking.

In a sense, simply surviving the audacity of questioning he who has final say shows a bit of stature. There's a big difference between Brock Lesnar querying why WWE are going a certain direction and Shorty G piping up, for example.

Brace yourselves for a lot of unhappy campers...
