10 Match Star Ratings For AEW All Out

8. SCU Vs. Jurassic Express

Hangman Page Chris Jericho
James Musselwhite/AEW

The perfect opener to a pro wrestling show, this was tremendous; better than the very good and endearing match most projected without doing too much, it was a real accomplishment.

Luchasaurus blew the roof off the Sears Center in an awesome cameo appearance. He is a sensation; a giant dinosaur-cum-martial artist, it's a quintessentially big daft wrestling gimmick that never feels remotely anachronistic because it's so endearing and well-earned. Also, and this is impressive because Luchasaurus is a giant dinosaur-cum-martial artist, there's a nuance to his work that somehow contrives to make the tiny Marko Stunt a threat; in an early sequence, he lifted him into Christopher Daniels to allow him to pull off a flying headscissors that otherwise would have looked preposterous. It's just so wholesome, too. A Big dinosaur just wants to see his little human pals succeed. It's an irresistible act, and this dynamic made ideal use of it.

SCU proved themselves a very dependable veteran presence. Foils for an exhilarating onslaught that culminated in a jaw-dropping Luchasaurus doing good lucha things, incredibly, they then assumed control in a great heat spot in which Scorpio Sky put himself across as an elite, powerhouse athlete, adding real peril to the babyface plight.

Luchasaurus blew the roof off the Sears Center in a second awesome cameo appearance: every awesome athletic thing he did was met with a blitzkrieg pop-pop-pop-pop-pop reaction.

A sh*tload of fun.

Star Rating: ★★★¾
