10 Matches That Nearly Made Wrestlers Quit For Good

The rumours have quietened down now, but for a while, it felt like barely a month passed without Rusev's WWE future being thrown in the air. The fan favourite has been linked with the exit door several times over the past year, with multiple sources citing his supposed dissatisfaction with his creative direction, but he remains under contract today, and recently wrestled AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules.

Talk of his departure was never louder than in the build-up to WrestleMania 34. According to PWInsider's Mike Johnson, 'The Bulgarian Brute' threatened to walk out of WWE a month before 'The Show Of Shows,' such was his despondence, and the company responded by throwing him into Jinder Mahal, Bobby Roode, and Randy Orton's United States Title scramble.

This is all speculative, of course, but if Johnson's sources weren't spinning him a yarn, the reporter's claims aligned perfectly with Rusev's Fastlane loss to Shinsuke Nakamura. If true, the promotion must have appeased Rusev by now. He' going strong on SmackDown, and currently locked in a tense storyline with Aiden English and Lana, though a major push is still forthcoming.
