10 Matches We Must See In Lucha Underground Season 2
6. Rey Mysterio Vs. Sexy Star
Rey Mysterio's arrival in Lucha Underground throws up a whole new world of opportunities and opponents for the Master of the 619. There are a whole host of obvious big names (many of whom will be touched on later), but one particularly fascinating possibility is seeing Rey come up against performers who are actually smaller than him. When was the last time we saw that? One of the most integral parts of the first season, the beginning of season two saw Sexy Star seemingly kidnapped by Marty 'The Moth' Martinez. Well, by seemingly I mean actually, as she is currently tied up and Marty is obviously a complete psycho. This state of affairs won't last forever, and I would expect to see Sexy Star free from the clutches of Martinez sooner rather than later. Once she is free from the wings (?) of The Moth, it would be a fascinating spectacle to see Sexy Star come up against Rey Mysterio. Lucha Underground is a much more liberal world when it comes to intergender matches, with all performers portrayed as inherent equals. It would also be strange seeing Rey work a match as the larger opponent.
Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
