The brainchild of Vince McMahon, Halftime Heat was a one-off WWF special presented during halftime of the Super Bowl. The show itself featured an "Empty Arena" match for the WWF Championship, contested between defending champ, The Rock, and rugged challenger, Mankind.

As the latest bout in their long-running feud, the two rivals had plenty of storyline heat of their own going into the bout. For anyone that's seen Beyond the Mat and the pasting Mick took at the Royal Rumble just days earlier, some of that heat may have been a little more real than either man believed at the time. So what better place to settle a heated rivalry than Sunday Night Heat?

Garnering an incredible 6.6 rating, the 17 minute brawl was scheduled to coincide with the the world famous Super Bowl Halftime Show. Mankind and The Rock gave the viewing audience one hell of an alternative, as they fought all over the building - from catering to the conference room - with "The Great One" giving a running commentary of his antics along the way.

Violent in parts, silly in others, the bout was entertaining to fans both old and new. Boasting a title change, a huge rating, two of the company's biggest stars and the first ever "Empty Arena" match in WWE history, Sunday nights don't come any more heated than that.
