This feud took place at the Slammy Awards in 1987. Duggan presented the award for the best in-ring apparel, he would read the name of the winner to himself and then ask those in power if it was right. He was given the all clear but refused to read out the name to the audience. The winner turned out to be 'King' Harley Race who was escorted to the stage by Bobby Heenan. Heenan would say that Race couldn't accept the award unless he was awarded it properly, this meant Hacksaw would have to curtsey and make a fool of himself. Unsurprisingly, Jim refused and the pair would brawl to the backstage area. Gorilla Monsoon would run backstage after seeing what was going on. What ensued was a comedic fight that continued throughout the show, accompanied by cartoon "BANG" and "POW" writing on screen. Heenan would crawl past a donkey that was backstage for some reason accompanied by the commentary line of: "I knew it wouldn't take long for him to make an ass of himself." The fight made its way all over the backstage area, including the ladies' dressing room and the WWF's christmas party before ending on stage.
